I don’t know about you, but it feels to me as if time is rushing past at an increasing speed. It seems hard to believe that the school summer holidays are nearly upon us. It really doesn’t seem possible that our youngest son has completed another year of education… I’m trying hard to enjoy this time, as I’ve realised that before we know it, he could well be off to university.

The summer holidays always highlight to me just how expensive children are! According to a report from Child Poverty Action Group (CPAG) a child in a couple costs £152,747 over 18 years (£185,413 for a single parent)1. Of course, if you make the decision to send your child to private school, then you’ll need to consider that additional cost. Post-18, your child could well be off to university, which means even more expense.
